London auction house Bonhams put seven Ugandan artworks under the hammer in a benefit auction to raise money for 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, a contemporary art centre in Kampala.

The auction was held ahead of the annual Africa Now contemporary African art sale and represented some of the leading artists in Uganda including Ronex Ahimbisbwe and Collin Sekajugo. The event also received support from the African Arts Trust, a charitable trust setup to act as a catalyst for the emergence and growth of sustainable art organisations in Africa.  Thanks to the funds raised from the auction, 32° East was able to kickstart the building of three artists' studios and a dedicated art library at their space in Kampala.
