MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY EAST AFRICAN ART AUCTION//

VILLA ROSA KEMPINSKI, NAIROBI, KENYA

Since its inception in 2013, the Circle Modern and Contemporary East African auction has transformed the art scene in the region, creating enormous interest in East African art both locally and internationally.  With an average of between 80%-90% of lots sold, the highly anticipated annual event attracts over 300 guests with bidding orchestrated by Bonhams and Christies auctioneer Dendy Easton.

NH Contemporary partnered with Circle Art Agency for the third consecutive year consigning work from the region to their annual auction.  One of the consigned lots, an early painting by Geoffrey Mukasa (1954-2009) sourced from a private collector, was the highest selling work fetching over $18,500.   Beyond the auction, NH Contemporary continually works with Circle on exhibitions and art fairs collaboratively promoting artists from the region and sharing in the Circle philosophy of  giving "the region’s most talented artists greater visibility and opportunities, ultimately increasing access to its lively and fast-developing art scene".
